Published Jun 18, 2008After the success of this month's Converse-sponsored collaboration with Julian Casablancas (and Santogold), Neptunes and N*E*R*D head honcho Pharrell Williams is apparently dying to produce the fourth Strokes record whenever they begin recording it.
Speaking to the NME, Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. confirmed that the super producer has been the talk in the band's camp. "Julian mentioned that Pharrell wanted to produce it, he said, "and that he had certain issues. Im up for anything. Im a fifth of the band, so whatever we choose to do as a band, Im there with it.
Hiring Pharrell as a producer isn't the most far-fetched idea, considering his involvement with the recent Hives album, and could prove to be a fruitful collaboration, Hammond said. "It [the album] doesnt have to be in one category. Sometimes rock music can be influenced by hip-hop beats, and getting drum sounds are a big thing in rock. Maybe a hip-hop producer can get a cooler sound.
