Petitions Launched to Rename Brooklyn Park After Beastie Boy Adam Yauch
In the weeks since we learned of the tragic passing of Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch, the world has joined together in numerous tributes and memorials. Now, one of two potential parks in Brooklyn may serve as a namesake for the fallen hero.

Billboard points to a Facebook-based petition asking for Brooklyn Heights' Squibb Park to be renamed in memory of Yauch. The park, which is currently being converted into a skatepark, is currently named after inventor Dr. Edward Robinson Squibb. The petition currently has upwards of 1,000 supporters.

However, Bikini Kill's Kathleen Hanna, who is the wife of Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz, confirmed that her husband is currently at work to convert a different park. She left the following statement on the petition's Facebook wall:

I just wanted to let you know that Adam "Adrock" Horovitz has already begun working with the Parks Commissioner to fix up and rename State Street Park where Yauch actually played as a kid to 'Adam Yauch Park.' It would be great to get people behind THIS idea as it won't hurt the Squib family and it would be awesome to fix up the bball court there as a tribute....

Which park will eventually be renamed is yet to be seen, but the fact that there are two in the running means that Yauch will most likely be remembered in this fashion at some point.
