Published Nov 03, 2016The ongoing beef between Drake and Kid Cudi escalated late last week, with both Cudi and his manager speaking out against the Canadian rap icon's lyrics in "Two Birds, One Stone" that make fun of Cudi's recent mental health concerns. As it turns out, more than 5,000 other listeners aren't on board with the lyrical jabs either.
An online Care2 petition has been started in hopes of Drake donating proceeds from the single to mental health charities. As of press time, the petition has amassed more than 5,300 supporters.
The petition reads: "Drake retaliated to Kid Cudi's comments in his new song 'Two Birds, One Stone': 'You were the Man on the Moon / Now you just go thru your phases.'...the lyrics above were intended to make fun of Kid Cudi's depression."
It continues: "Mental health is not a joking manner. According to Mental Health America, the most common disorder amongst suicide victims is depression. Depression or bi-polar disorder affects about 30-70 percent of suicide victims."
The lines in question follow Cudi's well-documented Twitter rant against Drake and Kanye West back in September. While West has made more of an attempt to reach out and support his one-time G.O.O.D. Music signee, Drake fired back at Cudi, saying, "Boy you gettin' way too high, you need to Cud-it," referencing the O.T. Genasis hit "Cut It."
"Two Birds, One Stone" is slated to appear on Drake's More Life "playlist" project, which is set to arrive in December. Meanwhile, Cudi's Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin' is expected to arrive this winter.
If you're looking to put some pressure on the 6 God to atone for his lyrical sins, you can sign the petition here.
