The Peterborough Folk Festival has been celebrating music, art and community for 25 years — and with the announcement of this year's lineup, it's clear that organizers plan to keep that tradition going with their 26th instalment.

Slated to take place in Peterborough, ON, from August 21 to 23, the weekend-long festival will kick off with a ticketed Friday night show at Market Hall featuring Matt Andersen, before providing two days of free entertainment.

Saturday will see sets from Matthew Barber, the Wilderness of Manitoba, Terra Lightfoot, Jadea Kelly, Folly and the Hunter, Kayla Howran, Leaf Rapids, Chris Culgin, Zachary Lucky, and Pine String Box Band. A special headliner will also be announced on July 27.

On Sunday, Joel Plaskett tops the bill and will be preceded by Mo Kenney, Quique Escamilla, Irish Mythen and a variety of gospel acts still to be announced.

Saturday and Sunday's free musical performances will take place at Nichols Oval, where there will also be workshops, as well as local food and craft vendors.
