Peter Gordon Teams Up with Factory Floor for Collaborative 12-Inch

Over his career, experimental great Peter Gordon has worked with the likes of Arthur Russell, Laurie Anderson, his Love of Life Orchestra, and the short-lived Justine and the Victorian Punks. Now, the iconic New Yorker has teamed up with British post-industrialists Factory Floor for a collaborative 12-inch, due out April 8 on Optimo Music.

The two acts got together when Factory Floor member Nik Colk Void sent Gordon an email expressing her admiration for the song "Condo." This sparked a collaboration, as Void sent Gordon a demo, and he then added overdubs. Factory Floor's Gabriel Gurnsey also got involved during the email exchange, while bandmate Dominic Butler worked with Gordon on a second song.

The two tracks, "Beachcombing" and "C Side," make up the 12-inch. The former is a 14-and-a-half-minute electronic jam, as a robotic bassline is overlaid with cosmic flickers, cinematic synth bliss, jazzy sax and some percussive hits. As for the latter, its eight minutes favour buoyancy over smouldering urgency. Listen to both songs below.
