Peter Broderick Returns with '(Colours of the Night) Satellite' EP

Oregon composer Peter Broderick has apparently struggled with his health as of late, but he's now back with a new EP. (Colours of the Night) Satellite is due out on October 14 through Bella Union/[PIAS].

A press release explains that Broderick has been living in Berlin, but a "debilitating illness" forced him to come back home and scale down his workload. He recorded the EP in Lucerne, Switzerland, with producer Timo Keller. "One of the record's main themes is how bad stuff can have a rejuvenating effect," the songwriter said in a statement.

The tracklist is below. Scroll past that to hear the opening cut, "Colours of the Night (Satellite Version)." This taps into the singer-songwriter side of his output, rather this his ambient and neo-classical approach, and it sports adventurously atmospheric, synth-dazzled production.

Broderick is inviting producers to remix the track and submit it to peterbroderickmail@gmail.com. The two best submissions will be released on a limited-edition 7-inch. The stems are available here. The deadline is December 1, and Broderick requests that remixes be less than five minutes long in order to fit onto a 7-inch.

The EP will be followed by a full-length in the spring 2015.
