Peter Bjorn & John Pull Out of Virgin & Osheaga, Shun Canada for MTV

Burn! Only days after Amy Winehouse cancels her Virgin Fest appearance, Swedish sensations Peter Bjorn & John have pulled out of their two Canadian dates scheduled for the weekend of September 8 and 9.

The trio were due to perform at Virgin Festival and Osheaga, in Toronto and Montreal respectively, but have dropped out to plug their MTV Video Music Awards-nominated single "Young Folks." That's the bad news. The good new is that they are "working" to come back to our shores before the year's end.

On a MySpace bulletin, the band wrote:

"We offer sincere apologies and regrets to our fans that we had to cancel our performances in Toronto and Montreal due to our nomination for Best New Artist for MTV Video Music Awards which requires us to be Las Vegas on the 8th and 9th. We hate cancelling shows - but we hope you understand that this is an exciting opportunity for us and we promise to make it up to you. We are working on getting back to Canada before the end of -07."
