When asked who he considers the most underrated band in history, Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell told it like it is — Jane's Addiction.
In the new issue of Classic Rock, the musician and founder of Lollapalooza made his views pretty clear, explaining:
It's because I went crazy and broke the band up at their height. I was operating on instinct and I just wanted to get away from those guys back then — I just wanted to do my own thing really bad. But it was an amazing project. And maybe it wouldn't have been any better, but now I look around and think, "Damn, I should have been more productive in that area."
Farrell singles out the third album from Jane's Addiction, 1990's Ritual de lo Habitual, as the best record he's ever made — but he also lists his post-Jane's band Porno for Pyros as underrated.
None of this should come as a surprise: Farrell argued back in 2016 that Jane's Party were "every bit as great as Guns N' Roses."
He knows what he brings to the party.
