Perfume Tree

Felt

BY Eric HillPublished Sep 1, 2002

Vancouver's Perfume Tree play the kind of light electronic music that countless Sarah McLachlan remixes have made irrelevant through their epic blandness. Felt is itself a remix album of tracks from the band's 1998 release Feeler. Rather than farm out the tracks to other producers, the members chose to tackle the task themselves. Other than the vocal-free sprawl of "Flooded" and the sole guest remix of "Too Early, Too Late" (by Pimp Daddy Nash), most of the music is reminiscent of incidental music under particularly hip reality TV segments or commercials for lemon-flavoured alcohol, or whatever else you have to sell.
