Igneous

Perc and Randomer collaborate to produce Igneous, an EP that exudes industrial grit. Rather than be restricted by the minimalistic tropes that comprise traditional techno, the duo achieve a maximalist effect from their attention to detail, and economically dispersed components.

The two artists find common ground in the uncompromising aggression that underscores the sonic aesthetic of their individual releases. While Randomer's distinctly hollow and percussive fingerprints command the majority of the attention at the forefront of the record, the collaboration balances out over subsequent listens. Perc's ominous and detailed analogue synths snarl in the background to create a threatening presence that, while occasionally subtle, lends the EP its menacing energy.

From oppositional modes of production, Randomer and Perc weld their individual expertise to showcase only their strengths, explaining the record's lasting impression. While Randomer's rhythm patterns centre the tracks here, the amount of detail that coils within Perc's analogue programming, particularly on tracks like "Flooring," balances the presence of both artists throughout the EP. Igneous terrorizes the dance floor in exactly the way that rave-goers want it to be done.
