Pemberton Music Festival Announces Free Whistler Show from Gord Downie, the Sadies, Matt Mays, Dan Deacon
Organizers behind BC's massive Pemberton Music Festival have announced they're going to start the party a couple of days early, with free performances from Gord Downie and the Sadies, Matt Mays and Dan Deacon now coming a couple of days ahead of the festival proper.

A press release confirms that a show at the Whistler Olympic Plaza will be staged July 16 by fest organizers as a free event. Coinciding with the Pemberton camping site's check-in time that same day, before the festival's official staging July 18 to 20, early birds can use the free shuttle service to get between the grounds and the free show at the Olympic Plaza. The free show is open to all.

Another set of pre-fest performances will take place on the official Pemberton grounds on July 17, once again with sets from Gord Downie, the Sadies, Matt Mays and Dan Deacon, as well as "other artists for five additional hours of music." This concert, however, is only available to festival ticket holders.

"We are so excited to be able to bring these incredible artists to Whistler a couple of days early for a free concert on July 16 as a thank you to the community that has helped us make Pemberton Music Festival possible this year," HUKA Entertainment co-founder/CEO A.J. Niland said in a statement.  "And Thursday's concert at our festival site will be an epic gift for all of those who want to get to Pemberton early, avoid traffic, and enjoy an additional day of music in one of the most beautiful environments imaginable."

As previously reported, the Pemberton Music Festival will be bringing out Nine Inch Nails, Outkast, deadmau5, Soundgarden, the Flaming Lips, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, Modest Mouse, Earl Sweatshirt, Snoop Dogg, Grimes, Lauryn Hill, TV on the Radio, Schoolboy Q, St. Vincent, METZ, Tyler, the Creator, Metric, Fucked Up, Sloan, the New Pornographers, Stars, Hayden, Matt Mays, Hey Rosetta!, Purity Ring and more.
