Published Mar 14, 2008If you are sick of always having to go stateside to see a half-decent music fest, the first-ever Pemberton Music Festival has been announced in your honour. For three days, acts such as Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails, Jay-Z, Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket, Vampire Weekend and Black Mountain will inhabit the forests of Pemberton, BC, playing for the birds, bears and music lovers happy to avoid cross-border festival-going.
The inaugural event being held in the rural BC town, just two hours drive from Vancouver, will feature over 50 acts during the three-day festival on July 25, 26 and 27. Like your big name Glastonburys and Coachellas, the Pemberton festival will be one of on-site camping, food, drink and general musical awesomeness. Also, to put an Interior BC swing on things where often showers are optional and patchouli isnt local farmers will be selling fruits and veg directly to concertgoers, with several other "green initiatives also in place.
Three-day passes go on sale March 28 at 10 a.m. and will cost $239.50, with no single-day passes available. About 37,000 ticket holders will be able to attend the event, with the 360-acre site being able to hold about 20,000 tent campers. Also, an RV park will be up and ready and hotels are nearby for those who hate the mildew of the morning.
Here are a few more of the bands joining the acts listed above at the festival:
Death Cab for Cutie
The Tragically Hip
