Published Jul 25, 2012Before David Bazan launched his solo career, the Washington singer-songwriter penned plaintive and personal emo-tinted tunes with his Pedro the Lion project. While the act officially called it quits back in 2005, their former label Jade Tree will toast Pedro the Lion's accomplishments via a new vinyl reissue campaign.
Jade Tree will be offering five remastered slabs of wax that will all hit retailers October 30. Covered in the campaign are Pedro the Lion's 1998 debut It's Hard to Find a Friend and 1999's The Only Reason I Feel Secure EP, which were both initially released on Made In Mexico before being repressed by Jade Tree in the early part of the last decade.
Also getting dusted off is the band's Jade Tree debut Winners Never Quit from 2000, 2002's Control and 2004's Achilles Heel.
Each record has been remastered for vinyl from the original sources by band member TW Walsh, save for Winners Never Quit, which was touched up by John McCaig. Download codes will also be packaged with the releases.
While the records won't arrive until fall, pre-orders are being taken now. Though no extra goodies exist music-wise, orders made before August 31 will come with a 10x10 art print signed by Bazan and a record player slipmat. Both appear to be adorned with a graphic of Bazan getting a hatchet between the eyes. You can check out the rest of the details here.
Bazan's last solo release, meanwhile, was 2011's Strange Negotiations.
