Pears

"Snowflake"

In addition to the kickoff of the "Fat Wrecked for 25 Years" package tour, this weekend sees the release of Fat Wreck Chords' latest "Fat Music" compilation. CD and digital copies of the label's Fat Music Vol. 8: Going Nowhere Fat landed in stores today (August 7), and to help promote the punk platter, they've unveiled a stream of New Orleans unit Pears' exclusive contribution, "Snowflake."

They say that no two snowflakes are alike, but Pears' jagged and frazzled punk is preserved with a touch of poppiness that brings them into the same stratosphere as their labelmates. That said, while gruff-voiced hooks are key to the piece, Pears also rip into a gnarly, double-time hardcore mid-section.

You can sample that sweet Pears sound down below.

Though the CD and digital editions of Fat Music Vol. 8 landed today, the vinyl version of the collection is due September 18. The record also features previously unreleased material from NOFX, Swingin' Utters, Night Birds, Leftover Crack and Western Addiction.
