Peaking Lights Announce 'Lucifer in Dub' Remix Set

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 25, 2012

As we wrote in our review, Peaking Lights' affinity for dub sounds was "curbed ever so slightly" on their latest set Lucifer as the duo explored Krautrock and acid house, but the band will bring the decaying delay twists and reverb swells back in full force with a newly conceptualized version of the album, appropriately titled Lucifer in Dub. The remix record arrives December 10 via Weird World Recording Co./Mexican Summer.

Described as "a special collection of dub edits," the tweaked collection features six new takes on Lucifer cuts as interpreted by band member Aaron Coyes. The band have unleashed the first track "Cosmick Dub," a sonic sister to Lucifer's "Cosmic Tides," which deepens the original's dark island groove by scrubbing organ tones in favour of drippy electronic likembe plunks and slathering Indra Dunis's vocals with a hazy, speaker-panning wash of reverb. You can check it, as well as the punny tracklisting, out below.

Lucifer in Dub:

1. Cosmick Dub
2. My Heart Dubs 4 U
3. Beautiful Dub
4. Live Dub
5. Dub Low Dub High
6. Midnight Dub
