It's a bittersweet time to be a fan of Vancouver post-punk project Peace. While the band have uploaded a tease of their forthcoming album, it arrives just as the group are to play their last-ever show.
First things first, the new tune is titled "Prayer," and it adds a more melancholy vibe to what the quartet offered up on 2012's The World Is Too Much with Us. Vocalist Dan Geddes weighs in on his wants and needs, moving away from the sprechgesang patterns of his past towards a low vibrato recalling anything from Lou Reed to Tindersticks' Stuart Staples.
An official release date has yet to be firmed up for the as-yet-untitled final Peace LP, but the band will be performing it in full tonight (July 15) at Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret.
