"Harness Your Hopes" is (or, was) nowhere near Pavement's most well-known song, but thanks to the oft-confusing, kinda scary dark magic of TikTok and Spotify, the late '90s B-side has become a minor viral hit.
And, because the whims of TikTok teens now more or less control the music industry, Matador has decided to reissue 1999's Spit on a Stranger EP and release a new video for "Harness Your Hopes."
The video — helmed by Her Smell director Alex Ross Perry — stars Yellojackets' Sophie Thatcher, who plays a conspiracy-addled Pavement superfan who finds herself being pulled into the band's classic music videos.
The reissued edition of the Spit on a Stranger EP reissue is arriving April 8 as a 12-inch vinyl record. It's being released alongside the expanded Terror Twilight: Farewell Horizontal reissue.
