Paul Weller Recruits Kevin Shields and Former Jam Band-Mate for New LP

When he released his Northern soul compilation, Lost & Found: Real R'n'B and Soul, last fall, renowned mod icon Paul Weller was also said to be hard at work on his tenth solo album. Well, the album, Wake Up the Nation, has been completed, and will be in stores this spring.

This time around, there are two high-profile collaborations worth mentioning. For one, Weller will be working with former Jam band-mate Bruce Foxton. The pair only collaborate on two tracks, and they're only two thirds of the original line-up, but it's still an almost-reunion for the influential punk band.

Along with Foxton, My Bloody Valentine legend Kevin Shields will make a rare appearance. Exactly what he did on the album is unknown, but if you hear a humming, whirring wall of sound on the new record, you'll know exactly where he is.

Wake Up the Nation will be released on April 5 in the UK via Island Records.
