Paul Weller Details His First-Ever Score with 'Jawbone'

Two years removed from his Saturns Pattern solo record, Paul Weller has revealed the details behind his next musical effort. Weller's first-ever score/soundtrack project for Thomas Napper's Jawbone will arrive this March.

A press release reveals that Weller got involved with the film at the request of Jawbone's writer, co-producer and star Johnny Harris. A longtime fan of Weller's work, he approached the musician through a mutual friend. Though the film had no cast or budget at the time, a working partnership between the two was formed.

"Paul would constantly send through any new ideas, demos, or recordings," Harris said in a statement. "What was unique and beautiful about this approach was that his new compositions were now inspiring and influencing the story as I was rewriting it. I'd also send Paul new drafts of the script, or any new ideas as they were forming along the way, and a beautifully collaborative process evolved."

Jawbone tells the semi-autobiographical story of former youth boxing champion Jimmy McCabe, who returns to his childhood boxing club in an effort to turn his life around through training to fight once more.

Jawbone: Music from the Film will arrive through Warner Bros. Records/Parlophone Records on March 10 in North America, with pre-orders available here. Read through the tracklist below.
