Paul McCartney to Score Ballet

BY Stephen CarlickPublished Jun 18, 2010

Musically, Paul McCartney has worn a lot of hats in his career, but there's one figurative piece of clothing Sir Paul has never worn: ballet flats. That's about to change, however, as McCartney has agreed to write the score to an upcoming ballet.

Although McCartney admits to not yet knowing the story arc of the production, he's stated that he's "enthusiastic" to begin writing.

"I'm interested in doing things I haven't done before," he told BBC Newsbeat [via Gigwise]. "That offer came up and I love writing music, the two went together and I said, 'Yeah,' so I just accept things before I even know what I'm doing."

Of course, McCartney has dabbled in classical music before: the former Beatle has four classical studio albums to date, the last one being 2006's Ecce Cor Meum.

In related news, we previously reported that Paul McCartney will hit both Toronto and Montreal on his Up and Coming tour this summer.
