Pattern is Movement Return with Self-Titled LP, Premiere New Single

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 4, 2014

It's been a long time coming, but Philadelphia pop experimenters Pattern is Movement have finally announced a follow-up to their 2008 full-length, All Together. A self-titled set from the duo is due April 1 through Hometapes.

The 10-song album is the group's fourth, and a press release notes that it has a percussive primal heartbeat keeps time with the baroque melody of civilization multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Andrew Thiboldeaux and drummer Christopher Ward serving up an LP featuring "a percussive primal heartbeat" and "the baroque melody of civilization."

The album apparently keeps steering the band further away from their indie rock roots into more R&B-flavoured territory. The LP includes "Suckling," first heard on a 12-inch single released last fall, as well as new track "River," both of which you can check out below. The "River," you'll notice, is marked with a thick and powerful drum beat, dial-tone synths and Thiboldeaux's vibrato-heavy vocal runs.

Pattern is Movement head out on the road to support their self-titled set about a month ahead of the April 1 due date and will be travelling to clubs on both sides of the U.S./Canada border with Brooklyn's Yellow Ostrich. The lone up-north appearance is scheduled to hit Vancouver's Media Club on March 23.

You'll find all of the concert details beneath Pattern is Movement's tracklisting.
