Montreal-based crooner Patrick Lehman cooks up a medley of pop and R&B influences — a sound he terms "electric soul." And there's a definite blue-collar grind feel to the overall proceedings; the album, titled Butchy's Son, is his fourth effort and perhaps his most polished.

Across 17 tracks, Lehman weaves influences from soul and R&B to dance and gospel. The album refers to the recent passing of his father and carries a personal feel throughout: "Games" carries a reverent midtempo bounce (the album also features a French-language version of the song), the piano-driven "Fall in Love Again" evokes a wistful vibe and "King" showcases his husky vocals, power-ballad style. Lehman now has four albums under his belt; Butchy's Son angles to be his breakthrough effort.
