Paper Moon

What Are You Going To Do With Me?

BY Michael EdwardsPublished Mar 3, 2009

Despite not possessing the greatest work ethic of any Canadian band, Winnipeg's Paper Moon have always been very dependable when they have gotten around to releasing records. Each of their albums and EPs has featured lovely pop songs that have made them worth listening to. What Are You Going To Do With Me? is a taster of what lies ahead for the band, and it sounds as if their forthcoming album, Only During Thunderstorms, will continue their streak of good work. The title track is a fine little tune but the real stars of the EP are the two cover versions and in particular, their take on Hot Little Rocket's "Down With Safe." But all five songs are good examples of the band's sunny pop music, which has a lot in common with the wealth of indie pop bands coming out of Sweden at the moment like Club 8. That alone might be enough to make people finally pay attention to this neglected band.
