Pantha Du Prince and Stephan Abry Team Up as URSPRUNG for New Album

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Mar 21, 2012

German minimalist techno whiz Pantha Du Prince (aka Hendrik Weber) hasn't delivered an album of solo material since 2010's Black Noise, but the electronic artist has revealed a new collaboration with Workshop member Stephan Abry called URSPRUNG, and their self-titled debut arrives later this spring.

A press release [via Juno Plus/FACT] for the ten-song set, which drops May 21 in the UK through Dial, explains that recording sessions took shape in the Swiss Alps last winter, and the music is said to be influenced by Krautrock and the ambient stylings of Harold Budd and Brian Eno. The recordings also primarily feature minimalist guitar arrangements in the vein of Durutti Column, according to the PR.

The pair apparently met ten years ago when Weber was playing bass for Hamburg outfit Stella, and Abry has contributed production work to Pantha Du Prince material in the past, meaning the two had developed a healthy musical relationship prior to URSPRUNG.

URSPRUNG:

1. Mummenschanz

2. Ohne Worte

3. Seiland

4.  Exodus Now

5. Chrüzegg

6. Lizzy

7.  In Aufruhr

8. Nightbirds

9. Kalte Eiche

10. Am Buachaille
