Panesian Nights

 Panesian Nights
After showing promise with remixes for the likes of Crystal Castles, Sally Shapiro, Justice and Health, CFCF is now living up to that potential and then some with Panesian Nights. On this debut EP of originals, the Montreal native (aka Mike Silver) takes all that's good about blog-driven electro scene - the vintage keys, the disco-leaning beats, the video game electronics - gives it a French house twist and comes out swinging with a killer set of low-res, drive-by-night synth jams. They're rarely the type you'd dance to, with CFCF keeping these tracks burning at mid-pace, but they are the kind that get deep under your skin. Take "The Explorers," for example, which lifts a beyond-catchy '80s synth line, slaps it onto crunching electronics and pulses in instantly lovable four-four time, or the bass-thumping "Arctic," a club-focused pop anthem that gives those Daft Punks a run for their money. Simply put, CFCF has easily made one the year's best first impressions. (Paper Bag)
