Panda Bear

'Greeting the Reaper' (short film)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 29, 2015

Panda Bear recently dropped his excellent new album Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper, and now the man behind the music (real name Noah Lennox) has unveiled a short film in conjunction with the latest LP.

Titled Greeting the Reaper, the 15-minute film features Lennox with his album collaborator and co-producer Pete Kember (a.k.a. Sonic Boom). There's studio footage, as well as shots of the musicians wandering around Lisbon, where the album was made and where Lennox has lived for the last decade.

It was directed by Sam Fleischner, who implements some choppy camera work and disjointed musical accompaniment to keep in line with the charming weirdness we've come to expect from Panda Bear. Lennox and Kember talk about the concepts behind the new music, but also take some time to appreciate the local scenery (including a stop at McDonalds).

Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper is out now via Domino. Watch the short film Greeting the Reaper below.
