We're in forest fire season, so it's the perfect time to rock out to the Pack A.D.'s tremolo-soaked garage jam, "BC Is on Fire." You can download the song for free right here, or better yet, you can witness it in person when the band tour across Canada in September.
The 15-date outing starts off with a hometown show in Vancouver and goes east as far as Quebec. In October, they have a one-off date at Halifax Pop Explosion. Hamilton, ON indie rockers Young Rival will open the majority of the shows. See the dates below.
To coincide with the tour, Pack A.D. members Becky Black and Maya Miller have announced a contest, inviting fans to draw a picture of the duo. According to a press release, the only rules are that it must feature the band and that it must be drawn by hand - no computers allowed (We Kill Computers indeed).
The band say, "You can draw us as like, even, errr, whalers if you want or perhaps to be more politically correct, you can draw us as the Wailers..minus Bob Marley of course...this isn't a Bob Marley contest."
The band will then choose their favourite drawings (there's no limit as to how few or how many winners there will be) and use those images in the insert of their next album. The next album doesn't yet have a projected release date, as the band's previous LP is only a few months old.
The deadline for the contest is November 5. If you want to get in on it, draw a picture and send it to the address below. Even if you don't win, you'll still get a handwritten postcard in return.
