Ozzy Osbourne on Why Black Sabbath Won't Make Another Album: "People Aren't Really Interested"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 9, 2015

While Black Sabbath had initially planned to record one last album before making their final exit, there have been rumblings the last while that they might not be releasing another LP after all. Sure enough, frontman Ozzy Osbourne has confirmed that there will be no new record, and he's shed some light regarding the reasons why.

Ozzy told News.com.au, "It's the end of Sabbath and people have been asking, 'Well, I thought you were doing an album.' But the things we've discovered are — number one: People aren't really interested in hearing new stuff and number two: If we were to do an album before the tour, it would take three or four years to complete the album. We want to end it on a high note."

Regarding Black Sabbath's legacy, he added, "Just to be remembered is enough for me. I thought no one would remember me when we first started playing music. I'd rather end it now though than drag it out for another five albums. I mean I'm 67 in December."

This means that it looks like 2012's 13 will be the band's swan song.

The classic heavy metal band's 2016 "The End" tour is currently slated to run from January all the way into September. It will include Canadian stops in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Hamilton, Montreal and Toronto. See the schedule below.

Meanwhile, this won't be the end for Ozzy, who said, "I'm not retiring. I'm going to do a solo album and a solo tour." Meanwhile, guitarist Tony Iommi has been battling cancer, but he's thankfully in good health these days.
