Ozma

Rock And Roll Part Three

BY Roman SokalPublished Nov 1, 2001

Ozma are the ultimate in displaying their affinity towards romanticising what fuels the suburbanite. No one else, besides Weezer, has managed to grasp what preoccupies teens so much, be it movie stars, television, dates and the like, and encapsulate it. However, Ozma are somewhat a little too literal, like Canada's own the Weekend, as they apply conventions and hooks in a non-discreet manner. The lo-fidelity keyboards receive honourable mention, though, as its screeching bedroom-budget simplicity seems to define pop culture to its fullest.
