Published Sep 29, 2011A little less than a year since Ox released their Christmas-themed album Silent Night & Other Cowboy Songs, the Sudbury, ON-based alt-country outfit are back with another new LP. This one is curiously titled tUCo, and it will be released on November 8 via Cosmic Dave's Record Factory.
The new songs were originally written as the soundtrack for a movie that was never made. According to a press release, indie filmmaker John Milne gave the band this vague description of the flick: "a '70s buddy movie channelling Keith Carradine and Dennis Hopper. The band is Tuco, and they're imploding."
The new Ox album features guest appearances from Fred Squire, Kate Maki and Nathan Lawr. It reportedly sounds like "'Rhinestone Cowboy' meets Bright Eyes with a sprinkle of the Flaming Lips." The 14 tracks include a cover of Neil Young's "Out on the Weekend."
