Ought Detail Debut Album for Constellation, Premiere New Track

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 19, 2014

Following last month's announcement that Ought had inked a deal with Constellation to deliver their debut album, the Montreal outfit have now gone ahead and unveiled the details behind the set, titled More Than Any Other Day.

The album, which arrives April 29, was tracked last November with engineer Radwan Moumneh (Suuns, Matana Roberts, Jerusalem In My Heart) at Montreal's Hotel2Tango. As previously reported, the band had issued an EP of the same name last summer, but the LP serves to replace the earlier effort and comprises new recordings of "Clarity!," "Today, More Than Any Other Day" and "Habit."

The quartet's post-punk sound is said to be informed by acts like Cap'n Jazz, the Feelies, Lungfish, Gang of Four and early Talking Heads, with angular arrangements supporting vocalist Tim Beeler mix of "melancholic melodic croons and ragged, desperate yelps."

You can check out the newly shared tune "The Weather Song" just beneath the tracklisting info.
