Published Aug 26, 2010Last Friday (August 20), Ou Est Le Swimming Pool singer Charles Haddon shocked music fans committing suicide after the band's performance at Pukkelpop festival in Belgum. The up-and-coming synthpop trio had an album, Christ Died for Our Synths, due out in October. That album is still scheduled for release, but it's now been retitled The Golden Year.
The debut LP is due to come out on October 3 in the UK, which means it will likely come out a day later in North America, on October 4. A single, "The Key," will follow the next week. There's no word on if any label will be behind the release.
Surviving band members Joe Hutchinson and Caan Capan reportedly consulted Haddon's family before going ahead with release plans. It's unknown whether they will continue on without Haddon. A statement from the band's publicist said, "Joe and Caan would like to thank everyone for their incredible support and best wishes during this extremely difficult time and ask that their privacy now be respected whilst they now take some time away."
