Oshawa's Next Winter Festival Gets the Elwins, Beams, Unfinished Business
Oshawa, ON arts collective Next Summer is embracing the change of season with a brand new festival this year. The inaugural Next Winter Festival will take place from November 6 to 9 at a series of different venues across town.

Organizers have announced the lineup for the weekend-long event, and it includes sets from indie pop darlings the Elwins, Toronto roots rockers Beams and New York twee-pop act Free Cake for Every Creature. The festival will also serve as the platform for the final show from teen punks Unfinished Business before they disband.

Local musical acts like Watershed Hour, Viva Mars, Kashka and Patti Cake will round out the bill. As for the visual art component, there will be a photo exhibit from Colin Medley, and art displays from Earl O Sandwiches and Evin Lachance.

A statement from the organizers describes the festival as follows:

Inspired by other DIY festivals already established throughout Ontario, Next Winter Festival is a showcase of a new youth movement, a celebration of community and creativity, a call to arms, and a love song to Next Summer's hometown of Oshawa.

Tickets will only run you $23 and can be purchased here. For full scheduling details check out the festivals Facebook event.
