Following the tragic overdose of Alice in Chains frontman Layne Staley in 2002, another founding member of the hard-rocking grunge band has passed away. Original bassist Mike Starr has died at the age of 44 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

TMZ reports that Starr's body was discovered in his Salt Lake City home on Tuesday (March 8) afternoon. A cause of death was not revealed, though it is likely drug-related, as the bassist was arrested in February for felony possession of a controlled substance including Xanax and Opana.

Starr's battles with addiction have been well-documented; the rocker appeared in the 2009 season of Celebrity Rehab. On that show, he admitted that he was originally kicked out of Alice in Chains because of his drug addiction.
