Synth-pop veterans Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark last released a new studio album in 2013 with English Electric, but that changes right now. The band's latest LP The Punishment of Luxury is finally here and ready to stream.
As previously reported, the 12-track offering was written, recorded and produced by bandmates Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys. "On this album we have managed to make beautiful things out of noises and repetitive patterns," McCluskey said in a statement, though he assured fans that there are still plenty of catchy melodies throughout.
The album artwork itself channels some of those repetitive patterns, implementing a 1981 painting by Italian artist Giovani Segantini.
