Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark Set to Work on Next Album 'English Electric'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 24, 2011

Fans of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark had to wait 14 years for the band's most recent album, 2010's History of Modern. Thankfully, the iconic synth poppers' next LP will come much quicker, since they have already announced the title and recording schedule for their latest studio endeavour.

In a recent Facebook update, core band members Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys revealed that the new album would be called English Electric. Recording hasn't actually started yet but writing began earlier this year. They'll be hitting the studio in early December to flesh out the ideas they've already been working on.

We don't have any more information than that, but any news is good news when it comes to OMD. When English Electric arrives, it will be their 12th studio album. Of course, the LP is also likely to spawn more tours from the band's reunited classic lineup.

OMD recently wrapped up an extensive North American fall tour, with their show in Vancouver even earning them Exclaim!'s Mark of Excellence.
