Signalling the end of a UK clubbing institution, Glasgow DJs Jonnie Wilkes and JD Twitch decided to abandon their weekly night, Optimo (Espacio). Adopting the name of their 12-year-old party, Optimo have teamed up with another UK dance music mainstay, Fabric nightclub, to capture and present the spirit of Optimo (Espacio). Foundation house and electro nostalgia make up roughly the first third, with offerings from Basic Channel and the Minister. Music from new wave pioneers Fad Gadget and Xex blends seamlessly with the latest UK funky heaters from Roska and Crazy Cousins, reminding us that in the hands of any great DJ, all genres can coexist on the dance floor.
