Opeth Head Back to North America

BY Keith CarmanPublished Feb 2, 2009

It's another "watershed" moment for Opeth, according to label Roadrunner Records, the Swedish melodic heavy metal act will be hitting North America this spring in support of their most recent effort and ninth studio album, Watershed. (Now the quotation marks make sense, right?)

This latest leg of the tour actually marks the third time the progressive quintet have crossed the big pond in support of the album. Considering it was only released in June of last year, that's quite the feat. However, with Watershed receiving massive critical and fan praise, their increasingly frequent jaunts over here are relatively unsurprising.

As proof of the album's success and popularity, American metal magazine Decibel has signed on as an official sponsor. Boosting the cool factor, support will be provided by Norwegian progressive black metal freaks Enslaved. Sadly though, Canada is only blessed with two of the 23 shows. Tour dates are as follows:

5/1 Sayerville, NJ - Starland Ballroom
5/2 Boston, MA - House of Blues
