Opeth

The Roundhouse Tapes

BY Sean PalmerstonPublished Jan 26, 2008

After disappointing some longtime fans with their first live DVD release a few years back — mainly due to the fact it contained only music from their Koch released albums — Opeth make no mistakes with this fantastic two-disc live offering. Recorded live at London’s Roundhouse back in November of 2006 while the band were supporting Ghost Reveries, this time the Swedes offer up tracks that span their entire career. It’s a real treat to hear classics from yesteryear like "Under The Weeping Moon” (from their Orchid debut) played alongside newer material like "Ghost of Perdition” and, thanks to both a crisp recording and strong performances, this record serves as both a great starting point for the curious and a must have for longtime fans of the band. Supposedly this will also be released as a DVD this fall. I can’t wait to nab that also.
