They’re young. It’s pretty obvious considering their MySpace page announces bassist Ashley just turned 18 and, of course, because their drummer looks about nine (he's apparently 17, but no one's buying it). But with youth comes energy and this young Brisbane-based Aussie quintet have it coming out of all 30 or so orifices. Forget High School Musical, these kids formed the band strictly out of an urgency to win their high school’s battle of the bands — which they did (first prize: a box of doughnuts). Though they have to fight to play gigs in some cities, their ferocious riffs, dynamic front-woman Amandah and a violinist of all things have them giving the Gossip a run for their money. The fact that this very well could be the only single ever about being a song about ping pong makes them all the more adorable. Oh and they also wear capes, without a hint of irony or nerdiness, which few teenagers can pull off. You remember high school...
