This 2017 reissue of OOIOO's should-be classic prog-psych masterpiece Gold & Green is the first time that the entire album is available on vinyl. Splayed across two delicious platters, and housed in a gorgeously designed gatefold jacket, Thrill Jockey have done a stellar job preserving this work of art, which first saw the light of day at the turn of the millennium.

OOIOO originally began as the fictional side project of Boredoms drummer Yoshimi P-We, but quickly established itself as an unstoppable force along the same lines as the parent group, who in the late 1990s were transmuting from a chaotic punk-infused furor into a psychedelic, Krautrock-influenced maelstrom. In fact, Gold & Green, which was originally released not long after Boredoms' Vision Creation Newsun, has many parallels with that album while at the same time steering in a more proggy, funk-infused direction.  The songs are elegiac, the rhythms are inspiring and there's just enough chaos to keep listeners on the edge of their seats.

These facts make Gold & Green an essential component of any psych lover's record collection.
