Having enlisted ANOHNI, James Blake, Kelsey Lu, Prurient and more to contribute to his latest LP Age Of, collaboration has certainly played a big part in Oneohtrix Point Never's recent work. Now, the producer has shared a rejected demo that would have seen him line up alongside Usher.
Taking to Twitter, the producer born Daniel Lopatin explained that he originally recorded the demo in 2016 while touring with ANOHNI, with the piece of music eventually appearing on Age Of as "The Station." The demo was considered for Usher's most recent LP, Hard II Love, but it ultimately didn't make the final cut.
Earlier this year, Lopatin told The Ringer that Usher had reached out about a collaboration following a show alongside ANOHNI at New York's Park Avenue Armory.
"He liked this weird interstitial piece of music that was just in between two awesome songs, where I was basically just freaking the fuck out, just making noise," Lopatin told the site. "And Usher was like, 'Yeah, that was the shit.' And I was like, 'Really?'"
