Oneohtrix Point Never

"Problem Areas"

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Aug 1, 2013

Following the reveal of Oneohtrix Point Never's R Plus Seven, electronic innovator Daniel Lopatin is giving us another sneak peek into his latest work. This time it comes via album track "Problem Areas."

Sounding tightly wound and glossy as can be (in a good way), the song shows OPN branching out into some new territory, making his old tendency for drone more of a memory than ever and ditching any dark angles for a bright, lush piece of work.

"I wanted to characterize a linear world with cracks in its edifice," Daniel Lopatin says about "Problem Areas" in a statement. "One with a veneer of being breakable, but that instead just bends and stretches endlessly like rubber, preventing you from ever understanding its true properties. The proverbial 'endless vista,' but with an end."

Hear it for yourself below or via a fancy interface on OPN's website. You can also watch an accompanying clip by Takeshi Murata.
