Once Nothing

First Came The Law

BY Dave SynyardPublished Feb 19, 2008

I’m fairly lost on what exactly "blue-collar metal” means. Yes, Once Nothing are from Pittsburgh, PA but unless these proletariats work at a steel mill, a factory or turn signs for traffic during road construction, they should leave the inane bullshit tag at the door and let First Came The Law do the talking because this album has a ton to say. Once again hardcore and religion have crossed paths and yet again I have accepted this as an indication of the dedication that went into this release. If bands want to crossbreed metal, hardcore and Southern rock, and make music like First Came The Law, then praise God. The percussion, vocals and guitar execution are tactful and exact throughout, and they even give this feverish album a fair prescription of cowbell to round things out proper. A humble band’s great start to a career that should meet with some fair praise.
