Olivia Tremor Control's Peter Erchick Returns with Pipes You See, Pipes You Don't

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jun 3, 2011

Despite our excitement back in 2009, the supposed Olivia Tremor Control reunion that was seemingly taking place never really panned out. There is a silver lining, however, as the group's Peter Erchick has teamed up with some Elephant 6 collaborators and recorded a new album under the long-running moniker Pipes You See, Pipes You Don't.

This summer, Pipes You See, Pipes You Don't will issue an album called Lost in the Pancakes. Mainly a solo project for Erchick, the album was recorded at his home over the last few years. Still, he did recruit the talents of fellow Elephant 6 performers John Fernandes, Eric Harris, Bill Doss, Heather McIntosh, Derek Almstead, Robbie Cucchiaro, Heather Heyn and Emily Growden.

When asked to comment on Lost in the Pancakes, one of Erchick's bandmates said in a press release, "Pete has a songwriting sensibility similar to Brian Wilson, and a demeanour similar to Steven Wright."

Lost in the Pancakes will be released on July 5 via Cloud Recordings as a hand-assembled CD. It will be limited to 1,000 copies. The album's title track can be streamed below.

Lost in the Pancakes:

1. "Lost in the Pancakes"

2. "Wake Myself to Sleep"

3. "The Train in the Station"

4. "Refused"

5. "Dream Together"

6. "Days Remain"

7. "I Disappear"

8. "Nothing for Sunday"

9. "Precious One"

10. "The Next Anything"
