The Olivia Tremor Control Remembered with 'Peel Session' Reissue

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 18, 2013

Elephant 6 staple Bill Doss passed away last summer, but his band the Olivia Tremor Control aren't forgotten. Continuing on with a series of archival releases, the band's 1997 John Peel Session will now be reissued through Chunklet sometime in January next year.

The session was recorded in March 1997, as the band toured behind their 1996 album Music from the Unrealized Film Script: Dusk at Cubist Castle, and originally released on CD in 2000. Like the original version, this 12-inch reissue includes just three tracks, but two of these are ambitious suites that bring together multiple songs. Some of the material comes from Dusk at Cubist Castle, but an announcement notes that there are a couple of never-before-released songs.

The first 200 copies are on clear vinyl, while red vinyl is available exclusively through Chunklet's mail order. The records run at 45 rpm, and the recordings have been officially licensed through the BBC.

You can pre-order the release here.
