Published Oct 09, 2015Oliver Swain's Big Machine release their latest album Never More Together today (October 9), and Exclaim! is giving you a chance to hear it in its entirety.
The Victoria-born Swain describes his Americana-tinged sound as a "folk rock odyssey," and his songs take the listener on a bluegrass-y trek guided by clawhammer banjo, bowed bass and slack key guitar playing. More conventional folk styles blend with modern rock and classic R&B influences, creating a sound that's both reverential to musical tradition and unique in today's sonic landscape.
From the plucky, fast-paced opening title track to the soulful string-driven ballad "No Strange Thing" to the darker vibes of "Apple Sucklin' Tree" and finally to the warmth of gorgeous album ender "Take Me Up," Never More Together has a sampling of something for everyone.
