Published Feb 08, 2013Los Angeles hardcore faves OFF! had been scheduled to embark on a North American tour this week, but it appears as if the entire outing has now been cancelled due to illness.
The band had been scheduled to perform last night in San Diego (February 7), but the show was axed. Today (February 8), the group announced, "Sadly, we have to cancel our west coast tour due to illness. Refunds are available at point of purchase. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to performing in these cities in the near future."
The trip included nine dates in all, including a Canadian stop in Vancouver on February 12. While not all the dates are technically on the "West Coast," it's assumed that all the dates have been called off. But judging by the band's statement, makeup dates may be announced soon.
As for the nature of the illness that sidelined the band, frontman Keith Morris told Rolling Stone that he is currently recovering from a diabetic coma, which is most likely the cause of the cancellation.
He said, "I just got back from Australia — my band, OFF!, we were on the Big Day Out. I'm in kind of a weird scenario right now, because I got back last Tuesday and I'm a diabetic and I failed to eat lunch. Came back, hung out with my girlfriend, and the whole idea was that we were going to do what grown-ups do — go take a nap and go get something to eat. It should have been reversed — I should have eaten first. So we did what we did, and I passed out. As I passed out, I actually blacked out and went into a diabetic-induced coma. So I'm kind of like the T-shirt that's been sitting in the dryer for three days."
This spring, Morris will be performing with the Black Flag spinoff group FLAG.
