NXNE Fleshes Out 2011 Lineup with Devo, Descendents, Evan Dando & Juliana Hatfield, OFF!

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 19, 2011

Last month, annual Toronto music event NXNE announced the first wave of artists that would be gracing Hogtown stages this June, including the Bouncing Souls, Deerhoof, the Dodos and Hot Water Music. Unsurprisingly, the festival has just announced another batch of acts, and, holy, it looks as if this year is going to be huge.

Torontonians should be gearing up for a performance from everybody's favourite energy-dome-sporting new wavers Devo. The legendary oddball outfit will be playing cuts from classic albums Freedom of Choice and Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! at Yonge-Dundas Square on June 18. Funnily enough, supporting the flower-pot-donning Devo will be Men Without Hats.

If you were looking for something just a little harder edged, So-Cal pop punkers the Descendents will be hitting up Yonge-Dundas Square a couple days earlier (June 16) with scrappy hardcore supergroup OFF! A special performance from tender indie rockers Stars will also take at Yonge-Dundas Square on June 17.

The fun doesn't stop there, from June 13 to 19, Toronto clubs and venues will also be treated to performances from: the Pharcyde, Digable Planets, Twin Shadow, Art Brut, Shad, Land of Talk, Chad VanGaalen, Cults, Dum Dum Girls, Evan Dando & Juliana Hatfield, Braids, Ty Segall, Suuns, PS I Love You, Crocodiles, Wild Nothing, the Pack A.D., Metz, Dirty Beaches, Forest City Lovers, the Luyas, Lower Dens, Gentlemen Husbands, Rusty, Royal Bangs, Julianna Barwick, No Joy, Prince Rama, Doldrums, Secret Cities, Evening Hymns, Snowblink, Parlovr, Talk Normal, Pujol, Woodsman, Gauntlet Hair, Joey Cape, Tape Deck Mountain, AIDS Wolf, Houses, CJ Ramone, and Kevin Seconds. And even more artists are listed here.

Festival passes and wristbands are now on sale over here, with early-bird pricing on NXNE priority passes available until next Monday (April 25).
