Published Feb 24, 2015Toronto's North by Northeast returns to the city this summer for its 21st instalment, and organizers have now unveiled the initial lineup for this year's festival.
Combining international star power and local talent, the wide-ranging, genre-spanning list of confirmed performers includes Action Bronson, the New Pornographers, Rae Sremmurd, Best Coast, Real Estate, Ty Dolla $ign and Angel Olsen. But that's hardly all.
Also delivering sets will be Vince Staples, Tink, Glass Animals, Blonde Redhead, Deafheaven, Baths, Pentagram, Alice Glass (DJ set), Health, Iceage, Zola Jesus, Magical Cloudz, White Lung, Om, Liturgy, Hundred Waters, Ibeyi, Betty Who, A Place to Bury Strangers, Odonis Odonis, San Fermin, No Joy, Lower Dens, the Gories, Lydia Ainsworth, Bishop Nehru, Son Lux, Cathedrals, Heems, Coliseum, Ryley Walker, Kate Tempest, Jacco Gardner, Dilly Dally, Amen Dunes, Obliterations, Cassie Ramone, K. Flay, Anamai and Aidan Knight.
A statement from the festival's website about the this year's lineup reads:
Well, we can certainly say we've very much tried to distinguish ourselves from the rest of the offerings on the festival circuit. The result is a pretty eclectic mix. Yes: we've got the Yonge-Dundas Square headlining acts you'll want to be at, but dig a little deeper and you'll find a whack of talent playing venues across the city. We're bringing in bands from some of our favourite shores and from here at home.
In recent years, the festival has expanded to include music, film and interactive components. The music festival is set to run from June 17 to 21 at venues across Toronto, and you can find ticketing information here.
